Aviation Electrician CDQAR Practice Test

When parts that affect flight safety are being serviced, especially egress systems, parachutes, and flotation devices, a formal QA presence is required if they aren’t re-inspected right before flight. The person who performs the in-process and final inspections in this scenario is a QA representative—either a QAR (Quality Assurance Representative) or a CDQAR (Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative). They’re trained to verify that the maintenance actions followed the correct technical data, that the equipment is serviceable, correctly installed, and properly documented, and they’re the ones who sign off that the item is safe for flight.

A collateral-duty inspector can handle in-process checks on some tasks, but for life-support equipment that isn’t re-inspected before flight, the designated QA authority must oversee the inspections and provide the final sign-off. The pilot isn’t assigned to perform maintenance inspections, and the maintenance technician does the hands-on work but not the formal QA certification for these critical items.
